Porcelaine Medard de Noblat, La table de Limoges
Since 1836, Medard de Noblat has helped to promote Limoges porcelain across the world. The Boisseuil site combines a shop and a museum telling the story of the manufacture of Limoges porcelain through models and prints of the former Medard de Noblat factory. The building’s architecture echoes that of the central market hall in Limoges.
The Medard de Noblat museum in Boisseuil
The Medard de Noblat museum presents an original display of exceptional pieces, some of which are being exhibited to the public for the first time. Objects are displayed in a neo-baroque décor, with a 17th century feel and a theatrical atmosphere. During this visit, a film reveals all the secrets of Limoges porcelain. On the late 19th century shelves, visitors can see one of the world’s largest collections of designs, with remarkable engravings depicting more than 170 years of porcelain creation at the Medard de Noblat factory.
Shops in Boisseuil and Sauviat-sur-Vige
From trendy to more classic collections, the shop at Boisseuil offers a wide range of white and decorated porcelain, first-class as well as rejects: white and decorated table services, lunch services, cookware, decorative objects and gifts. It also sells products from the world of decoration.
There is another shop in Sauviat-sur-Vige, near Saint-Léonard de Noblat. It also screens the film about porcelain-making.
On the Boisseuil site, Medard de Noblat strives to show the contemporary face of porcelain through a permanent exhibition entitled “Esprit Porcelaine” represented by 20 designers: these unique and monumental pieces and items of tableware all showcase the originality and innovation of porcelain as a material. These artists, master porcelain-makers and craftspeople revisit petit feu and grand feu decorations and coloured pastes, creating ever- more extraordinary forms.
