An extraordinary event in the history of the earth happened in the Rochechouart/Chassenon area over 200 million years ago - a giant meteorite over 1.5 km in diametre finished its flight there at a speed of 72 000 km/h.
The Espace Météorite Paul Pellas is a permanent exhibition exploring a number of themes including the solar system, meteorites, the effects and the consequences of when these fall to earth, impact craters around the world, the French Astroblème crater at Rochechouart-Chassenon.

October - March: Monday - Friday from 10 am - 12 noon and 2 - 5 pm
April - June and September: Monday - Friday from 10 am - 12 noon and 2 - 6 pm; Sunday from 2 - 6 pm
Mid-July - mid August : Monday - Friday from 10 am - 12.30 pm and 1.30 - 6 pm; Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 2 - 6 pm
Closed on 1st May, 1st November, 11th November and from mid-December to mid-January
